Experts Examine Europe's Population, Reproductive Health Concerns
UNITED NATIONS, Geneva, 12 January 2004—More than 350 population and reproductive health experts started a discussion here today on demographic, health and social issues critical to Europe, North America and the former Soviet republics. Participants in the three-day European Population Forum will examine policies and trends in migration, ageing, fertility and mortality; and sexual and reproductive health and rights, particularly in European countries in transition.

UNFPA Initiative Raises Awareness of Fistula Cases in Sudan
SUDAN, 30 December 2003 -- “Yes for Prevention. No for discrimination” was the slogan of this year’s AIDS Day commemoration by UNFPA in Sudan. The event, in early December 2003, included public awareness and fund-raising campaigns and culminated in a much-publicized football match between Khartoum’s two most popular teams. Sudan’s HIV infection rate is estimated at 1.6 per cent nationwide.
