The Threshold-21 tool was developed by the
Millennium Institute (MI), Arlington, Virginia, U.S.A. It is
a simple and poweful tool that can be used to assist field offices
in furthering ICPD and relate MDG goals for enhanced advocacy
and planning relating population, reproductive health/family
planning, gender, HIV/AIDS and poverty reduction impact. The
T-21 tool is user-friendly, analytical and computer-based. It
integrates
the
three major
components
of development: the economic, socio-cultural and environmental.
The tool simulates the expected consequences of alternative policies
and programs for periods up to 20 years. The tool is transparent,
and provides understanding of and validity for the policies and
programs behind the outcomes.
"Life
or death is a political decision", reads this poster from
the International Parliamentarians' Conference in Ottawa,
Canada. At the conference, elected
representatives from 72 countries and territories pledged
to save lives by
striving to allocate up to 10 per cent of their nations' development
budgets for population and
reproductive health programmes. This poster asks if your government
has made the same committment.

HIV/AIDS
is spreading faster in Eastern Europe than it has anywhere
else in the world. But sophisticated young people in the
region can give any number of reasons for not wearing condoms to
protect themselves.
