The Chicago Botanic Garden can be a beautiful place to take a winter stroll.
Photographers will find beauty in evergreens and serene views of the Japanese Garden. Dramatic patterns of ice and water are constantly shifting in the lake as the weather changes.
If you need to warm up, the Greenhouses provide a quick trip to the tropics, with displays of cactus
and succulents and many exotic species such as orchids and bougainvillea.
In the South Greenhouses you will find gingers, heliconias and shooting star clerodendron in bloom.
In the West Greenhouses, see how plants in arid regions have adapted
to drought and foragers with thorns and shapes both beautiful
and bizarre. In bloom now are many aloes, euphorbias and gasteria.
The East Greenhouses feature poinsettias, topiaries and the huge
Hong Kong orchid tree.
