Met Office training in aviation meteorology offers pilots a comprehensive programme covering all aspects of aviation meteorology. Whether you are a beginner or simply looking to learn more, we have a course to suit your needs.
 

Aviation Meteorology for Beginners


Aviation Meteorology for Beginners is designed to teach aviation meteorology to the standard required by JAA for PPL and NPPL levels*. The course will cover aspects such as meteorological theory and interpretation of charts.

Advanced Aviation Meteorology


Advanced Aviation Meteorology is aimed at experienced pilots who wish to extend their existing knowledge and learn more about the weather that affects them in the air and on the ground.

About the training

Both courses are centred around UK weather, with an emphasis of practical case studies. The course syllabus can be flexible to cover any additional topics of aviation meteorology that may be of interest to you.
  • Learn how to make more informed decisions regarding weather conditions, both in the pre-flight planning stage, and in the air
  • See how aviation forecasts are produced and the tools the forecasters use
  • The opportunity to question forecasters and instructors on any topics of meteorology you have questions about
The current list of course dates on offer during the coming months are as follows:
4 - 5 July 2003 Advanced Aviation Meteorology
26 - 27 September 2003 Aviation Meteorology For Beginners
21 - 22 November 2003 Advanced Aviation Meteorology
23 - 24 January 2004 Aviation Meteorology For Beginners

All courses are two days in duration, and currently being run at our own training facilities in Torquay, Devon. The cost of these two-day courses has now been reduced to £300 + VAT, subject to at least 10 aviators attending. Should there be less than 10 applications, the course will be postponed and participants will be informed of new dates. No deposit is required until the course is confirmed by e-mail to you.

The above price include all tuition fees, lunch and course activities. It does not include accommodation. However, we can recommend the TLH Leisure Resort which is close to our training facilities.
