Brian Harris is an award winning Canadian photographer who has dedicated his past 15 years' work to using his images to raise money and awareness for Seva Canada's sight restoration projects in Tibet, India, Nepal and Tanzania. This well known and extensive body of photographic images exclusively focuses on Buddhist Himalayan Culture.
Himalayan Visions & Tibetan Voices is a 90 minute digital multi-media show consisting of over 250 of Harris's award winning images, and photographs of Seva's sight restoration work in Asia. The work documents the beauty and spontaneity of this unique culture as well as the contribution of Seva's program to restore sight. The audience is taken on a journey of the heart into another culture and beyond, into a world of compassion, humanity and service. Accompanying the compelling images are specially composed music, environmental sounds, sacred music and prayer, recorded narration by Zasep Tulku Rinpoche and Harris's live commentary.
Brian's service work and his award winning book, Tibetan Voices: A Traditional Memoir, have the personal endorsement of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, "I hope this book of images will create a better understanding of Tibet, its people and their culture whose very existence today are gravely threatened."

Is Your Business Listed For Free?
We are searching for businesses, clubs and non-profit organizations to be added to our recreational database. This is a NO COST service and already there are over 4000 Canadian businesses listed on our website. We only list businesses directly related to our sections of Golf, Fishing, Adventure, Skiing and Gambling. Namely; lodges, guides, sporting stores, ski hills, adventure outfitters, bingo halls, etc.
Please visit Canadagoes.com to see if your organization is not already listed and to be sure you fit into one of our dozens of categories. While we will find every business eventually you can get listed faster, and be sent potential customers quicker info if you let us know you are out there. A website is not required to be listed, we will still list your business with the appropriate contact info. Information requested:

Keep your eyes open for details regarding our upcoming mixer.
It promises to be like no other event we have had.
The Salt Spring Island Residents for Responsible Land Use have created a questionnaire called "Looking Forward". Questionnaires are available through the Chamber of Commerce office if you are interested in completing one.
In the Fall of 2003, The Salt Spring Monetary Foundation will be printing the new Salt Spring 1, 2, and 5 Dollar Bills, so that we can begin taking the old ones out of circulation later this year, well in advance of the expiry date of December 31, 2003.
We have developed plans to offer space on the back of the bills to Salt Spring artists who would like to feature their work (including images of sculpture).
For a nominal set up cost and commitment to purchase a number of the Bills (which can be used at over 95% of island businesses to purchase day to day items such as food, gas, beer, etc.), the Foundation will produce smaller limited editions in numbers of five hundred or more, featuring approved artwork.
Imagine your art on state of the art, negotiable bills circulating around Salt Spring and the rest of the world! Included on your artwork will be space for your website address. Sign them and leave them as "value added" tips at restaurants or use them as conversation starters. Why use business cards when you could hand out a representation of your art that people would never throw away and likely would show others?
Artists who are interested should contact the $$ IMF for more details by e-mailing the foundation at bobmcginn@saltspring.com, Bob McGinn, President, Salt Spring Island Monetary Foundation
