Historically fashioned Piercedware Pottery, hand made by Hartley Greens since
1781.
Ever since the
British Middle Class emerged at the time of the industrial revolution people
have strived to emulate the royal households by decorating their tables with
expensive pottery to excite and impress friends. Leedsware indeed does fall in
to this category with many of the 18th and 19th century royal function rooms
relying on the splendour of Leedsware to complement and grace the
occasion.
This
requirement to embellish the appearance of food by presenting it on exclusive
dinnerware spilled over in to the downstairs rooms where the simple beauty of
Creamware was allowed to be used by servants.
Grace, etiquette
and elegance was the order of the day for the rich in those distant days, this
artistry is not lost in present day pottery manufactured by Hartley Greens. It
