Platypus Super Braid

platypus super braid

Platypus Super Braid is a new Australian line on the market. I was supplied a roll of the 4 pound by Australian Monofil Co. Ltd., Brisbane, Australia to try & I am very happy with it. The first thing I noticed when I took it from the pack was how limp it was compared to the gel spun line I have been using for tossing soft plastics & hard body lures. The yellow colour really stands out which is what you need particularly when you are watching the line on the waters surface when fishing soft plastics.

After spooling up I tied a Bimini Twist & joined it to a mono leader with the same knot I generally use when I am bream spinning the tested the knots. Both knots tested fine & I cut & retied 5 times & each time had the same results. I found it very easy to tie indeed being nice & limp. It also packed down very neatly on the spool.

Out on the water Platypus super Braid performed very well indeed. I was casting it from a threadline reel & had no problems with loose loops from the spool. Distance was fine with a 1/16 oz jig head & the line has excellent "feel". I used it under very poor light conditions & I had no problems seeing the line at all. The abrasion resistance is very good indeed.

In conclusion I think Platypus Super Braid is a great line & I would have no hesitation in recommending it.
