FISHERIES & ANGLING HIGHLIGHTS
THE OPENING OF 2004 GAME ANGLING
SEASON NOT TOO FAR AWAY AS NATURE CONTINUES TO DO HER THING!
One of natures spectacles, often difficult to capture on a
still camera, well Richard Keays of Millbank Angling Centre Murroe, outside
Limerick managed to do just that with this large fish captured ascending at
Annacotty Weir, River Mulcair, Limerick on it's way to spawn.
The Game fishing season opens on some rivers in a few weeks
but most fishing will not commence until March 1st onwards. We don't
expect much in the way of angling news for another while yet. Any worthy news
items we receive we will of course add to the column. Meanwhile we wish to thank
all those who contributed reports and photos in 2003 and look forward to your
continuing support to the column over the coming year. We will be featuring an
Angling Roundup for 2003 season very soon. More on that later!

SALMON ------
The first Salmon of 2004 was caught on the
famous Drowes fishery Kinlough Co. Leitrim. The lucky
angler was Billy Cathcart Co. Antrim, his 7.5lbs
Salmon was caught on a black Flying C , with a Silver
blade. It's reported the Drowes had a good run of Salmon.
