Archipelago
to visit around Koh Chang
The rapid growth of tourism industry on Koh Chang inspired travelers to
explore further islands that are more peaceful and more virgin. Those
islands are Koh Prao, Koh Ngam, Koh Laoya, Koh Wai, Koh Kut, and Koh
Kradat. Due to their unspoiled and
unexplored nature, it is suggested to contact the travel agencies before
going there.
Things to see
Beautiful beaches are not the only main attractions on Koh Chang. You can
also appreciate the abundance and beauty of its waterfalls like Mayom
Falls which had been visited by several Thai kings in the past and Dan Keo
Falls. Those who would like to taste the adventure in the jungle can also
join the trekking activities offered there. In addition, you can touch the
life style of the local people while visiting the area. It is an
interesting idea to visit the fishery village with a small market at Bang
Bao Beach. Moreover, you can go back to the past in the World War I period
at Naval Battle Monument (Naval War Memorial), situated on Lam Ngob Beach,
where the exhibition about historic naval war on Koh Chang is displayed.
There is a yearly commemoration between January 17 and 21. If you want to
see the real place and to feel the historic atmosphere of Naval War,
please go to Naval Battle Area, located in the south of Koh Chang to
Salakphet Bay. The zone was once the battle field between Thai and French
Naval troops who fought over east border conflict on January 17, 1914. |
