**Fishing reports are an important part of catching more fish. However, they should be read to help you understand what the fish are eating, when the fish are eating, and to learn what areas the fish are feeding in. They should not be read to try and figure out an exact set of boot prints for you to stand in, this won't help, it will only frustrate you, it's very rare that there will be a repeat of a past night's performance. That is why all are encouraged to post reports and are asked to just give a general location, not a specific spot.
Reports for 2003
Here we are, full of optimism as the fall season unfolds (slowly) in front of us.
Seems like the best, most reliable action has been centered around the sandy
beaches south of Manasquan Inlet. Sporadic catches of mostly small fish
north of there. No real solid reports of fish even over a measly 10#. Yes,
there are some, but even those 32" fish are rare. Hopefully the sand
eels that are milling around will take up residence in some sand bars in the
area and produce a somewhat reliable bite! Good luck, check out SurfTalk
for more details!

We were told that an occasional striper could also be caught foraging in the surf here so we also soaked herring, cut in half with both halves impaled on an 8/0 circle hook. The worms were fished on a flounder hook. The worms produced 14 skates throughout the flood and the herring produced 3 dogfish towards the peak of the tide. Doggie # 3 was the equivalent of strike three for us. We departed for the Merrimac River basin and a plan of possibly fishing the dropping tide. Once at the Coast Guard Station parking lot received discouraging reports from other anglers of "0" fish caught, same as our previous trip to this locale on 7/26, and decided to depart for fresh coffee and the highway home instead. Striper Addict(s): jess Oh man where do I start. About two weeks ago just after dark with a mid tide ebbing, I managed to catch and release 3 big bass from 20-25 Lbs (finally no bluefish). For the next two weeks I hadn't caught a thing and I began to wish that I kept one of those bass because my fridge is all out of meat. This morning, my friend Mike and I decided to give it one more chance before work. We both agreed that this would be the last time because "they're probably already gone." After about 45 minutes of nothing, mike got a hit and took the line of the roller to let it run (his Van Stal has no bail). After a few seconds he reeled up the slack, set the hook, but there was no fish....just slack. So we thought...When he tightened the line the bass erupted about 10 feet from the rock he was standing on (it must have swam towards him after taking the eel...I love it when they do that). It seemed to be big by the size of the splash, and was soon off on a nice long run (Mike's bass always run a lot further because he likes to set his drag loose. After about 10 minutes, the bass was in and on its side, and I grabbed her...and I said "holy !%it this thing is huge." We were pumped and before weighing it I knew it was over 30 simply because I had grabbed two others of similar size (for Mike) earlier in the season. I would like to tell everyone just how excited we were to see a big bass this late in the season...we never had luck this late in the year. I guess I'm not going hunting tomorrow morning, because I just picked up four eels!!!! SEE YA!!!!! Striper Addict(s): Hot2DeathX Cruised out into the Delaware Bay on a overcast day. Hit onto some Croakers early in the morning with Blues soon to follow. Croakers were very big. Hook on to some Nurse Sharks, "Damn." Saw some other anglers coming in with Strippers. They're in right now, so I'll get them next time. Later! Striper Addict(s): gonefisn Fish were feeding like mad - lots of bait in the water and great action. Striper Addict(s): jess We lost 10 of 12 eels to bluefish and possibly one shark (eel was shredded rather than chopped. Caught 2 keeper bass on remaining live eels...we then figured out that if we could hold bottom better (ie. jig head), we may be able to get more bass. We managed to land one just over 20 lbs, but my friend Mike lost one quite a bit bigger after he wrapped on a rock. It was a crazy night with the surf and wind being so strong. We are kind of lucky it was a lowish tide or we might not have made it past all of the slippery black rocks... Striper Addict(s): Capt. Jack Passie The Windy has been enjoying absolutely the best summer of fishing ever. The inshore fishing for Stripers, Fluke and Porgies has been phenominal. We have been limiting out with Stripers everyday and big fish too. Last Sunday Steve Pavuloniis reelin two on an Umbrella rig that weighed in total 72 pounds. That's only three pounds short of a pound for each year of Steve's age of 75. Best catch on an Umbrella so far this season was 96 pounds on one rig. Its been like this everyday. The Fluke fishing is the best I've ever seen it. Just today John Glover and his group from Royersford PA Limited out with 42 Big Fluke to 10.2 pounds by Noon time. The average Fluke that Mike our Mate filleted today was 41/2 pounds, its incredible. If we've got a group that would rather Porgie fish instead of Fluke after limiting out on Stripers they're the biggest kind. 11/2 pound average with acoulpe over 4 pounds. This red hot action will peak towards the end of September. So come on down to Montauk and get in on it! Striper Addict(s): Capt. Jack Passie Things have really been going well as of late on the Windy. We have been sailing every day and putting together some very impressive catches of Stripers and Fluke on the Inshore scene and when we've been offshore the Bluefin Tuna and Sharks have been cooperating for us. On Monday the 5th we were offshore with Mitch Bradbury and his group from Yonkers NY for a 200 pound Brown Shark before comming in and limiting out with the Stripers. On Tuesday Mitch opted to stay inshore. They were limited out with 12 Big Stripers to 35 pounds by 8:30 before heading down the beach to the Towers off Napeague for 40 Fluke to 7 pounds. The Bass were all caught on Umbrellas at the Porgy Lump east of the Point and the Fluke were on Squid and Spearing combos. On Wednesday Rod Hood was up from Richmond VA. It was another great day of inshore fishing Limiting out on the Stripers and then limiting out with the Fluke. Today was a replay again for Derrick Barcus from Avington PA except the Bass were bigger The boys landed four over 30 pounds and filled out their limit with 25 pounders. It was a georgeous day the North Wind droped out, and that made for perfect conditions for Fluking. The day was so nice I even put out a line myself and landed 12 keepers to 61/2 pounds. The Inshore action is constant, Plenty of Bass and Fluke. So far its been a terrific Summer, the Fall should be spectacular. Striper Addict(s): Capt. Jack Passie Well, fishing never stays tough in Montauk for long. Last week we had to work for every Striper we caught and this wee they're jumping into the Windy. Tuesday morning we had out John Barbieri and his group from Setauket NY and by 8:30 we not only had our limit of 12 Stripers but Mate Mike was throwing back 20 pound fish. it was quite a morning and a very impressive catch when we hit the dock. The average Striper we brought in was 22 pounds. On Wedensday it was a replay for Stanley Nolt and the boys from Ephrata PA. Once again we were limited out with Big Stripers by 8:00 before we headed offshore Shark Fishing. All of this red hot action was on Umbrella Rigs. The best fishing was in the East End of the North Rip, the Flats and the Torcher Chamber.
We are on the rise of the Moon right now and I expect to see some really big Stripers in the next week Striper Addict(s): Capt. Jack Passie has this hot weather brought the summer doldrums with it. Striped Bass fishing got tough this last week, anglers on the Windy had to work for evey fish they kept. Fortunately for us we caught our limit evey trip until Sunday afternoon. Wow, what a strugle that was. We had been catahing pretty good on the Tourcher Chamber a deep water spot just north of the North Rip but on Sunday afternoon we found only Two Keepers and a few throw backs. The Stripers will be biting again I am sure the very week tides are having there effect on them and not the heat when you pass over a spot the Fish Finder is showing them stacked up. There is just no movement in the water to get them turned on.
The good news is the Fluke have been biting very well in the MidWay rips and down the Southside. On Saturday after lmiting out with the Stripers Mac McLean and his group fished withusand had one Helluva mess of Fluke before calling it a day. This red hot Fluking should be with us for the rest of the season.
Good news from offsore too! Althought the Windy wasn't booked for offshore fishing thi week many of the boats that got out caught TUNA only 20 miles from the Point. Not Just a few stragglers but their seeing schools of them on the surface. The next day the Windy gets offsrore is Wednesday. Were booked for Shark but we'll be ready for the TUNA.
There is sill a couple of days left open in July and August for TUNA so if you've got the urg to tackl e a TUNA give us a cll 631-668-5741 Striper Addict(s): Rick C, Mitch W the morning was giving up few bass but some small bues were present.. as the morning slowed we went for fluke we had a blast the best fluke trip i hd for yers.. sea bass and purgy hit the fluke rigs had some fun wit them the race at night gve up some big bass the biggest 40" and 34 poundsthe moring wasslow again but A FEW BASS WERE PRESENT AND KEPT US Busy till next timme rick.... the cape is the place to be .. Striper Addict(s): rick c, mitch w we left from the beach around 8pm fund fish on the fish finder theres were we caught the blues came back aroun 10pm ate wen to the bay were the bass were hittin just about every the u threw few keepers but no cows.... Striper Addict(s): Capt. Jack Passie The Windy is still going strong, what a ro;; were on. On Saturday 6-29-02 we had quite a day. Joe Flynn and his group form Totowa NJ were out Shark Fishing. I ran the Windy South to the West side of the Butterfish hole in 200' of water. We set the boat adrift and started chumming with ground Bunker. It took about an hour for our first bite and it turned out to be the only one we needed. Joe landed a 245 Thresher, the hardest fighting Shark we have. After killing the Thresher we headed in and dtopped at the Point made a couple of swipes and landed 5 nice Stripers.
In the evening Chad Glinsky was out for Stripers. We leave the dock at about 4:30pm on these Striper Special evening trips. The Stripers were there waiting for us. I headed straight to the Elbow, we were jigging 2oz Andrus Parachute jigs chartruse in color. We limited out with 6 Striperd in the 25-30 class
Sunday the Striper Fishing was even better, we fished the Elbow and the Slot, to catch our limit plus a bunch of throw backs for Bill Urban and his group. It was a terrific day, we landed the best Bass of the season and the largest at Stat island Yacht Club where the Windy is docked a 44.9 pound Striper was the victom of a white and red Parachute. It seems like theres alot of BIG fish around right now. Striper Addict(s): Capt. Jack Passie Wow! What a great week we had on the Windy. Limiting out on the Stripers every day and the Fluking is getting better all the time. It started out on Monday with Niel VanGinHoven and the boys from the Patchogue Fishing Club. We easily jigged up our limit of Stripers on the Elbow, Great Eastern and Caswells, and then it was out to the Mid Way Rips for Fluke. We started drifting west of the South Rip on the last of the Flood Tide, the perfict time to drift over my Flukezilla Spot, but there was nobody home and our first drift resulted in only a couple of keepers and a bunch of shorts. The next drift was East of the Mid Way Bouy and they really took hold with the slackening of the tide. We ended up with 25 keepers to 51/2 pounds. All of the fish were caught using Squid Spearing Combos for bait.
Tuesday was even better. Vince Ricciardelli of Mahopac NY was out on the Windy we caught our limit of 12 Stripers by 10am nice fish too, 35 pounds the largest, all on the Elbow, the Slot and Great Eastern. We Bass fished until the Flood Tide broke, catching a few upgraders and then it was back out to Mid Way and the Fluke. Red Hot! I even took down my rod and caught 3 over 5 pounds.
Wednesday we had out Fritz Coring from Berganfield NJ once again the Bass were biting. We fround great fishing on the Extension of Pollack Rip. Several Stripers over 30 ponds wer landed before we took off after the Fluke. The first two drifts were hot 12 nice Fluke to 4 pounds and then the Dog Fish found us. It became impossible. We had to give it up and head for the Pocketbook where we caught a few more keeper Fluke and a nice mess of Sea Bass.
Today (friday) we had out Phil Malott from Allentown PA. Last year Phil adn the boys clobbered the Tuna this year they wanted to stay inshore and try their luck with the Stripers. They got what they came for. 3, 18 pounders at Caswells, 3 more at the North Rip and we finised up upgrading in the Slot catching 3 in the 30 pound range. We then went right back to Mid Way and they Fluke. Mate MIke was hot catching 12 keepers himself to 51/2 pounds.
The water around the Point is warming up rapidly there were several Makos caught today and one Thresher, lets hope the Tunas are only a few days away. Striper Addict(s): Capt. Jack Passie Well things are starting to get pretty busy on the Windy. On Friday 6-21 we had out Kenny (The Grander) Gordon and a group from Planet Honda in NJ and we had a great day of Inshore Fishing for Stripers and Fluke. We started out fishing the Elbow and the Slotand had a steady pick of nice size Bass. Fish in the 18 pound range and a few throw backs, this was on the end of the Flood Tide. When the tide started to Ebb things quieted down and we still needed a few more for our limit, but perserverance wins out, when the tide broke we found some big ones on the 36 lump. Several 30 pounders were landed ,until we limited out and were upgrading fish from our live well.
On Saturday the target species was Shark for Joe McGowan and his group from Middletown NY. We stopped at the Point for a couple of passes on the Bass and lucked out with 3 beuties. Tommy had a 37 pounder, Kieth a 35 pounder and an 18 pounder rounded out our catch before we headed the Windy South to the Shark Grounds. We started chumming about 24 miles SSE of the Point in 225' of water at the mouth of the First Finger on the East side of the Butterfish Hole and the Blue Sharks came steady, the boys caught and released 6 from 25 - 150 pounds. On Saturday Evening we had out Mac McLean and his family for some evening Stripers. It was hot! The Elbow was alive with birds and baitfish splashing all over, plenty of action. We were jigging 2oz Andrus Parachute Jigs and had the best fishing just at dark when the big boys took hold. We had a very impressive catch of Stripers to 38 pounds, 5 over 30. Striper Addict(s): james todd this fish had some serious shoulders...man what a fat fish... Striper Addict(s): WindyJack The Striped Bass fishing is getting better everyday. Yesterday (wed) Frank Fatone and his group were out on the Windy for a day of Bass Fishing. The weather was perfict flat A calm, no wind and bright Sun. It was by far the nicest day of the year, it looks as if were finnaly in a summer weather pattern. The day started out slow as we got out just in time for slack tide. We picked a few but nothing we could work on. We were jigging 2oz. Andrus Parachutes on the Elbow worked out to Great Eastern and found a few more. When the tide got going the Stripers came to life and it was two a pass in both direction for the next three hours. We moved out to the Porgy Lump and found Bass of the large model we upgraded with Stripers to 32 Pounds. Terrific fishing!
Today the Windy wasn't booked so I mated for Capt. Tom Herlihy of the Herl's Girl also one of the top Bass producers in Montauk. We were doing an afternoon 1/2 day trip and the Bassing was as good as it gets all big fish too by the end of the trip I was throwing back 20 pounders this red hot action should last until mid July at least. Striper Addict(s): Gavix all fish over 36 inches, greatest day of striped fishing ive had in a long time. fish were hitting live bait with no weight on the surface when the tide was slack. Striper Addict(s): tankboy Hit the SFZ, on Friday night just before the storm. I needed 6 oz. to hold the bottom sometimes. Threw out a clam and the started throwing a shad. Hooked the short pretty quickly. Then the 30 and 32" on clams. The storm was getting too close so I bailed. Nice light show. Everybody have a healthy Merry Holiday!!!!! Striper Addict(s): Phish Fished IBSP in blistering cold temperatures around A-18 and was able to get only the 2nd
keeper bass of the year. Tried circle hooks for the first time and was pleased with the
results. With the weather being so cold it helped to keep the hands in the pockets warm,

I fish as much as humanly possible and its true for the surf guy its been bad, to say the least. I don't even see anything off the beach worth paying to go out for, not 50bucks anyway. maybe if it were the old days at 18bucks. hopefully the best is yet to come if it would just get cold, i know its nice out but thats not what surf fishings about. when i think of nov.-dec fishing i think of busting fish everywhere and a cloud of birds on the horizon moving south, not to mention 15-20 degree temps with wind chills in the single digits. no bunker no big fish, small bait= small fish, anyone who says they would take sandeels over bunker is crazy and has not been out there for the past 20 years. I have been and remember 1lb bunker bitten in half buy 15lbs of bluefish, or taking home a 20lb bass to find a half a dozen cupcakes in her. so for the guys who wanted all the sandeels you got'em . We had a great lunch w/ friends. I love three day weekends. Striper Addict(s): Kevin Not much action to report. I have been fishing the change of tides, and the only bites were about half hour befor low tide. Basically one bite per day. GREAT DAY FISHING !!!! Striper Addict(s): PHISH The conditions were so bad we didn't even get a chance to fish. It was raining, the waves where breaking right
at the dunes, it was as bad as could be. Striper Addict(s): The Holy Cow Email me for complete story..... dugan@delanet.com Striper Addict(s): Art Governali and sons We arrived at the parking lot at 5:00pm.
Climbed down the 60 odd steps to the beach with our rods and
bait. I put on two fresh clam bellies for my son and he
lobbed a soft cast into the water, before I could bait my
rod the first 40" fish took his bait.
A few minutes later we had the fish on the beach.
I baited my hooks and casted into the same area within a minute
or less I caught a 24" fish with my son enjoying a good laugh.
I baited up again and casted to a 38" fish within 30 seconds of the bait
hitting the water.
Well we had our limit and were packing up to leave when my
other son shows up and and see's the fish, well he insisted that
we bait up again and get another fish. I gave in to his
demand and baited up again. Bingo we caught the 38" fish.
The people that saw us fishing thought we were doing something
special but we walked on the beach and tried our luck and it was over in 30
minutes and we have the pictures too.

Big blues still around. Surprisingly, I havent' caught any of the small 1-3lbers that are usually present this time of year? Striper Addict(s): Capt. Mitch Chagnon Capt. Mitch here. Boy has it ever been a busy summr. I have been remiss in putting out reports
but just haven't had hardly a moment to myself, except for a couple of breakdown days and a few weather days.
the entire summr has seen large concentrations of bass and blues around the Island. there have been periods when
they had lockjaw but generally the fishing has been excellant. June was perhaps the best month with the month
of July a close second. August ws august and a little slow at times when water temps got in the high sixties and
even seventy a few days, but the fishing is picking up again and the fall shows good promise.
Bluefish are still around in good abundance and black sea bass are eerywhere as are the scup, a perfect
formula for a great day.Average catches ae ususally a limit of stripers and all the sea bass you can get a line too.
Southwest ledge and the North rip are good producers and the east side of the Island seems to have the bigger
scup and sea bass.
Hopefully water temperatures will go down during the next few weeks and the bass will put on the feed bag.
this should continue to improve right through thanksgiving with the biggest bass of the year coming through during
the month of November.
I'll try to be a little more prudent in posting reports. Until then GOOD FISHIN CAPT. MITCH CHAGNON

I have never seen such a well defined rip line - dead calm glass on one side, and roiled churning water on the other. Well, the gulls were definitely there for a reason, as we started seeing bait fish flipping out of the water, and some surface crashing going on. Immediate thought was blues - but what gull sits on the water with choppers around? Dumb bird I thought. Had to stem the tide on the edge of the rip, then started plugging with 5" blue rebel minnow. Water moving pretty well - tough retrieve getting the lure back to the boat from down-current. Third cast out - fishon!! By the fight, figured I had a medium sized blue, but once the fish was at the boat, turned out we were in a school of stripers to 26". Partner Eds turn. Boy, amazing how many things can go wrong when you're in the thick of things, all the while fish crashing the surface all around us. Eds reel got fouled, casts were going bad, and then his line got wrapped into the prop. I gave him my rig, and then my Penn started acting up with the line somehow wrapping around the bail. Worked Eds rod back into condition, then Ed finally got his chance to yell - FISHON!! We hung around there for a good couple hours and the bass obliged. Each caught 4 including the first one as a keeper (CT slot limit is 24" - 30", 1 fish, and >41", 1
fish). ChugBug worked greeat - had fish chasing it in, and then turning away
with a loud slap of the tail - fantastic. Fish cooperated by hanging around, and other than one other boat that came in through, it was all to ourselves.
Striper Addict(s): BrianZ I had the one fish on a small bottle plug and one other hit on a bomber, there should have been fish everywhere considering the way the water looked. Once we got to our spot we started drifting worms. On our second drift I had a fish on as soon as I hit the bottom. On light tackle it took about 5 minutes to land. That was the 34 incher. We made a few more drifts and noticed some lightning coming our way. As soon as I said, at the end of this next drift we are out of here, Douglas hooked up. Once we landed his 28 incher we were out of there. This was the first striper he ever caught and he will remember this day for a long time. Not to bad for an hours worth of fishing. Striper Addict(s): BrianZ plugged a long time with too few hits!!! greatful for at least a couple lil guys but the biguns eluded...til next time :-) Striper Addict(s): fasteddie [sandman] on boat about 50 + , fish were caught, pool fish was 9 or 10 lb. fished last of income tide,my buddy had 4 niece fluke 5,4,4,3,lbs. we had wind against tide before changingtide.big fish at end of day. fasteddie [sandman] <"{{}}><. Striper Addict(s): D.J. Aanensen Guessed we would get 18. WRONG! Only 7 between us and nothing big. Started catching them and getting smacks on top until 3 little kids decided to come out and play in the water next to us. Then, the fishing slowed down. Thanks for coming down and fishing with me Frank. Good luck on Thurs. Striper Addict(s): D.J. Aanensen This is me being Nostrodamus??? Going out with a guy I haven't met from this site to do some fishing. I'm guessing we catch 18 blues up to 5lbs???? Let's see how I do on MOnday. Striper Addict(s): fasteddie {sandman} fish the sore thumb 6:00 am. to 10:30am. last of in come tide caught one small schoolly on salt clam & a circle hook. change of tide was nothing but sea weed on fishing line the rest of the morning.left to go to sunken meadows fished west of jetty about 2000 yds. nothing again but sea weed . fast eddie [sandman] <"{{}}>< ~~~~ Striper Addict(s): Pete, Chris Water was dead calm, fishing off of jetty/walkway into what is technically part of Boston Harbor. The "other" 2 fish we caught were cod. The stripers were all around 24-28 inches, one possibly over 30 - we didn't have the tape measure, some other people fishing let us borrow their measure, and they had left already - but it fought more, heavier too, very pissed off.
Other action on jetty consisted solely of skate stealing bait all night long, I guess we were in the right spot at the right time as we didn't run into the skate at all.
Take Care... Striper Addict(s): D.J. Aanensen Blues everywhere again but did manage an 8lb bass just before the sky fell. Poured like crazy for a few minutes. Wind picked up and direction switched quickly. Had a nice blue blitze going on during the storm. Fun catching fish with a down pour going on. Striper Addict(s): otter, paul naj, pops slow start, once the tide switched they turned on. final count me-3 paul-3 pops-1
fun stuff Striper Addict(s): JBreese1 Hit the beach at 4:30 looking to plug up my first Bass of this year. Not meant to be! Razor lips were thick and hungry. It still felt good to feel something pulling on the other end of the line.
Jim Breese Striper Addict(s): eelball On the way out the fog was thickwith the forcast being crappy, but we already made up our minds.first drift I got a hefty run off,but had the rod in the holder and the fish spit tit.Next drift, this time while holding it,I got a good bump, but all I did was feed the sucker.Third drift my buddie hooked up.I never herd a baitrunner scream for mercy like that. After a long battle of give and take we got it next to the boat.At first we thought it was a shark, but I scooped it up and yelled.AAAAAAAHHHH.IT"S A FRIGGIN BEAST!After about 2 dozen high fives we got to fishin.Unfortunatley the fishin shut down, but it was well worth the trip and gettin a bit wet. Striper Addict(s): OK to start off. this has been the best year so far for stripers that i can remember fishing for. i've only fished the housatonic river so far this year but the stripers are in!!! fished for about 2 hours and 3 BIG fish were broken off. came up to the top and wouldnt dooute a 40+ inch fish. other 2 were around 35ins i think but were nice fish. early on they were hittin poppers and 6in sluggos and now they are ONLY and im serious only hittin herring from what i saw. the fish were jumpin out of the water after the bait and these arent small fish either they are a good 30+ inch fish. guys were throwing poppers into the jumpin fish not even a hit. i dunno if they were really picky that day but as soon as the bait hit the water they were on it like white on rice........ GOOD LUCK
any more ?'s email me. Striper Addict(s): Chris, Fred, Bruce Fished Cape May beaches with 3 buddies over the weekend. Tried about everything. Had to work for them, but there were some fish to be had. Caught some short stripers, and enough keeper weakies and blues to feed us dinner. Most caught on clams on the bottom, although the 25" weakie hit a Rattle-Trap type lure. Tried floating bloodworms with no success. Guess the weakies are still holding off. Maybe this weekend... Striper Addict(s): D.J. Aanensen Monster Weakfish on the plug. A PIG fluke on the plug. Big and FAT. Spit out a whole squid while I was letting it go and a couple of toothie critters as well. Not bad for a couple of hours considering the wind and tidestage. Striper Addict(s): Mikie Montauk Some of the best Bass fishing in years. most of fish were keeping are over 30" long the big Bass took chartruse chute. Fluke fishing also pretty damm good. lots of fish from 3 to 5lbs. MM Striper Addict(s): D.J. Aanensen All the action on Fin S. Had a couple of great hits and kept missing them. Slowed it down a touch and started catching the fluke. One really nice weakfish topped off the night and then my reel DIED. Striper Addict(s): JDS Awesom fising 3 sperate days. Contious hits. From a Jetty both inshore and offshore ends. others arround me not as sucessful. Baest striper fishing I have ever expereienced! All released safe and sound. Striper Addict(s): JDS Awesom fising 3 sperate days. Contious hits. From a Jetty both inshore and offshore ends. others arround me not as sucessful. Baest striper fishing I have ever expereienced! Striper Addict(s): fisheye fish in front of green port.income water southside. out going tide fish north side of greenport. big pool fish 8 1/2 lb,about 100 fish court on boat Striper Addict(s): Mikie Montauk some better fish today a lot of fish over 30'' inch some more on the dia Jig Striper Addict(s): Mikie Montauk Good fishing but this will get better. had a few bass on the dia Jigs saw them rolling here and there. They have porgies and butters in them. MM Striper Addict(s): Mikie Montauk tide had to get going, then fishing was steady.in About a week or two we should se some better fishing. But for now this will do. MM Striper Addict(s): ErikT Somehow found a honeyhole.. Had 6 fish, dropped one in the wash.. 32" was the heaviest.. Oh what a night!! Blues on top chomping Bunker, Bass on bottom eating my Fresh heads.. Striper Addict(s): IsmailG As usual the Sea robbers where attacking every lure I threw, then a fiesty blue ate a spearing teaser. Dropped a few fish that felt good before I had to go. And whats up with those Horse shoe crabs, I must have stepped on a dozen every spot I went to! Striper Addict(s): Dan We got to the island early to fish for stripers we fished till the sun came up and on. We didn't catch any do to the strong cold north wind, but did see a few caught. ><)))> Striper Addict(s): IsmailG Same spot as where I caught the Weakie yesterday, but now every cast I was being harrased by Sea Robbins! There where hundreds of them,Icould have had one every single cast If I wanted. My Dad had to be some where, but before we left the nice fat Fluke ate my teaser:) Striper Addict(s): IsmailG Birds where working the bay when I got there, fish where swirling on the surface. They where taking baby bites out of the fin-s, so I put on a shad and the biggun took it right away, very healthy fish, went air born a few times to:) Striper Addict(s): D.J. Aanensen Got a bunch of Blues on top and a nice slot bass. Put on a jig for the Weakfish and pulled out a nice 4-5lb Fluke in about 12" of water. Nice flattie. Striper Addict(s): KDOGG AND ERIKT nice and fat ,a thirty pounder for sure,ErikT lost one big girl, there's no telling the size, the bite is on,leave the plugs in the closet for a couple of weeks! Striper Addict(s): fisheye fish on prime time lll orient point jumbo fluke, about 140 fish for the boatthe bigs 9 l/2,lbs.some 7,6.4, 18" and up great day for jumbo fluke ,,,,fisheye,,,,may /02/01 Striper Addict(s): fisheye fish on prime time lll orient point jumbo fluke, about 140 fish for the boatthe bigs 9 l/2,lbs.some 7,6.4, 18" and up great day for jumbo fluke ,,,,fisheye,,,, Striper Addict(s): fisheye fish on prime time lll orient point jumbo fluke, about 140 fish for the boatthe bigs 9 l/2,lbs.some 7,6.4, 18" and up great day for jumbo fluke ,,,,fisheye,,,, Striper Addict(s): fisheye fish on prime time lll orient point jumbo fluke, about 140 fish for the boatthe bigs 9 l/2,lbs.some 7,6.4, 18" and up great day for jumbo fluke ,,,,fisheye,,,, Striper Addict(s): fisheye fish on prime time lll orient point jumbo fluke, about 140 fish for the boatthe bigs 9 l/2,lbs.some 7,6.4, 18" and up great day for jumbo fluke ,,,,fisheye,,,, Striper Addict(s): Luke Had my first hookup about a minute after my first cast. About 20 minutes later I had my second hookup. Landed both fish. After that one more came undone and I missed another a little later. Striper Addict(s): Jim B Started to hit fish around 1530. The bass were 15 and 22 inches respectively, and the weakfish were all pretty hefty. I declined to weigh them, because I like to handle fish as little as possible before release. Two of the fish snapped the 10 pound fluro leader as I lifted them onto the bank. The key seemed to be the lighter fluro leader tied directly to the jig head. I've got to remember to bring my net next weekend. Striper Addict(s): Luke Found a nice slough at IBSP and set up camp. Tossed out a hi-low rig with a clam on each hook. Caught the short first then two skates. Then, it was time to move the truck away from the incoming tide. As I jumped back out of the truck (it took all of ten seconds to move it) I see my rod headed for the sand as the sand spike gives out. I run over and low and behold on the other end was mr. 30" striper. Striper Addict(s): StorminNS I had a 10 ft and 12ft. surf rod out 10 ft with a whole clam on a 5/0 hook just cast it out and let it drift with 4 oz sinker. My other pole had a bloodworm on it.
The Striper hit my clam I thought I was snaged on a rock till I set the hook!
I fought the Striper 5 minutes and finally grounded it.
Picture on request Email me.
StorminNS@aol.com Striper Addict(s): KDOGG first one feels great Striper Addict(s): BrianZ Lnaded one Bass and dropped a couple smaller ones, good feeling that first bass of the season :-} Striper Addict(s): Luke El Skunkeroo. I'm beginning to take it personal. I got one chance to fish this weekend and it was on Sat. so I took it. I would have rather have gone on Sunday, but with it being Easter, well, you know the deal.
"Honey, were going over my families on Easter, right."
"Yes, dear."
Now I'm stuck in work. WHY CAN'T I WIN?!?!?!?! Striper Addict(s): Jim B I started the day off with a hefty 34 incher, and then caught two midgets. I quit fishing when I saw the small one. The bottom of the tide seems to more productive this week. Striper Addict(s): squidder Striper Addict(s): DonW Fished a South Shore beach for first hours of outgoing tide, got 3 hits on salted clams, caught the one fish. My first of the year! Saw 4 others caught, appeared to be all shorts. Striper Addict(s): ErikT Rain started to come down as people spilled out of the park. KDOGG and I stuck it out. Pole bounced twice and I proceeded to land a healthy 28 inch Striper! Needless to say, I'm happy! It has begun! Striper Addict(s): ErikT No story to tell. No fish caught but it was damn beautiful out and I'm reporting it! Staten Island will explode soon! Striper Addict(s): Dan fishin' in the LBI surf i managed to pull in a couple of really nice early season stripers Copyright © Tim

after 4 tries (skunked) in feb i decided to give it another shot, fished my usual spot #8, but the grass was heavy....decided to ride on down to the line since the tide was out and the sand hard....anyway set up 2 poles one with bunker one with squid, shortly a ranger came to check me out....after he left my squid rod started shakin enough to make me jump off the back of the bronco in a hurry.....time i grabed it he was well hooked....gave a great fight and glued a smile on my face for the whole freekin weekend! allen
