POLICY

Conservation with Access

Since 1994 the National Trust has produced a series of subject and policy papers concerning the conservation of properties and collections and the provision of access for visitors.

These papers are designed to provide guidance to staff on how best to achieve the appropriate balance for "conservation with access".

The following papers are published here in pdf format:

- Curatorship in the National Trust (2000)

- Historic Buildings: The Conservation of their Fixtures, Fittings, Decorations and Contents (1996)

- Opening Historic Houses (1996)

You will require Adobe Acrobat Reader to be able to read these documents. Acrobat Reader can be downloaded by clicking here.

To download the policy papers, right click on the relevant link on the right hand side of this page. Then select "Save Target As..." and specify the location on your hard drive where you want to save the paper.
