Mackerel Shark.

Identification:
Upper body cobalt blue.
Lower body white.
Bullet-shaped head with large dark eyes.
Wide keel at junction of body and tail.
Five long gill slits.
Long unserrated teeth.

Mako Shark Teeth

Temperature range:
15 - 30 Celsius (59 - 86 Fahrenheit).

Typical location:
Over reefs and canyons.
Along current lines and temperature changes.

Fishing methods:
At anchor or drifting with live and dead bait often in combination with chum.

Fighting characteristics:
A very aggressive and tough fighter with fast runs in deep water.
Will often return to surface and attack the boat.
Can jump up to 12 meters (20 feet).
