Climb Mount Kinabalu
Mt. Kinabalu is situated in Kinabalu Park – the first site in Malaysia to receive the World Heritage designation from UNESCO. The mountain itself is the highest in Borneo and stands at 4095.2 metres above sea level. Despite this height the peak is within your reach and it is most popular to time your ascent to arrive at the summit just before sunrise. It is said that the key to a long and happy life is to watch the sun rise at least once every year. What better place to watch this year’s sunrise than from one of the most awe inspiring views in the world.
White water rafting
If you have never experienced the exhilaration of white water rafting then Sabah is the place to add this thrill to your list. With Grade II & III rapids Sabah is ideal for an introduction to this adrenaline filled activity. Your friends will be spellbound by your stories on your return and once your hooked you will be seeking out white water rafting destinations on all future holidays.

To get a true understanding of life in the tropical jungle you need to get up into the rooftop. A number of locations in Sabah offer you the opportunity of doing just that and the canopy walk is an increasingly popular way to expand your experience of this fantastic environment. The Canopy walk is available from within Kinabalu Park or as an alternative you can also visit the 27 metre high walk in the Danum Valley.
Natural Wonders:
Danum Valley
Stay in the heart of the Danum Valley Conservation Area to explore this lowland rainforest and discover its complex natural beauty. The park covers an area of 438 sq. km. and is claimed to have the world’s most complex eco-system. The park is home to many very special mammals including the endangered Sumatran Rhino, the Clouded Leopard, Orangutans and the long nosed Proboscis monkeys which are endemic to the region.
The park is a 2 hour car ride from Lahad Datu but it is necessary to arrange entry permits in advance. If you would like to include this trip with your diving package please click here.

Containing 5 distinct habitats the river basin is home to one of the most diverse concentrations of wildlife in Borneo. A river trip at dusk or dawn will arm the wildlife lover with many sightings to fill their travel diary. Be sure to include a river trip with your Sabah diving holiday.
Gomantong Caves
Collect bird’s nests from Gomantong caves.
Collecting the birds nests is a task only the most fearless of visitors would attempt even if they could get a licence. Gomantong has been described by the WWF as "the best managed bird’s nest cave in the world". Harvest time is an awe inspiring spectacle as collectors climb hundred’s of feet on the most unstable looking rope ladders to harvest the nests. Once you have witnessed the lengths that the Chinese Emperor’s cooks went to too provide his delicacies you will think of truffles flown from Paris in a new light.
Visit the Orangutan sanctuary
These shy and gentle creatures are difficult to see in the wild but now you can guarantee an encounter with the "Wild Man of Borneo" by visiting the Sepilok Orang-utan Sanctuary. Additionally you will be helping to support the activities of the sanctuary which has been in operation since 1964. Orang-utan young, orphaned by the effects of logging and illegal hunting are brought to the sanctuary to offer them protection and prepare them for their return to the wild. A truly memorable experience awaits during your visit to Sepilok.

His success made him the most famous and feared warrior in Sabah’s history and saw him collect 42 trophy heads during his lifetime. The village where he lived now invites you to experience a disappearing way of life. See what it was like to live the life of a real life head-hunter, include a visit to Monsopiad on your Sabah scuba diving holiday.

Take a trip into the interior and stay in the traditional dwellings the communal longhouses. Borneo’s famous Tattoos will be on display as the living canvas of the older members bear living testimony. An overnight stay will allow you to be enthralled by these marvellous fireside story-tellers as they recount tales of the role of headhunting in courtship and long ago crocodile hunts. Their accounts may not always be the most historically accurate but they are the most colourful and fascinating.
