Applied Research
Ethics National Association (ARENA)
An organization of professionals concerned about the ethical conduct of

Association
of Profession and Practical Ethics
The largest, and, by my lights the best, professional organization that
examines these issues. Their annual (Spring) meetings feature a
number of papers on research ethics. Great chance to meet other people
interested in these topics.

Program Guidance for Recipients of NIH Research Grants"

Uniform Requirements for
Manuscripts Submitted to Biomedical Journals
from the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors.
This document, first written in 1978, has now been endorsed by the editors
of more than 500 biomedical ethics journals. It sets out some general
guidelines for submission and evaluation of articles, and specifically
addresses a range of significant moral issues, most especially, issues of
authorship.
University Programs on Research Ethics:
Indiana
University
Information on research ethics workshops, taught by IU faculty, and
sponsored by seven other mid-Western universities. Includes a
proposal, by Ken Pimple, for structuring
the issues more coherently.
North
Carolina State University Research Ethics Initiative
Includes fully developed teaching modules covering all the
research guidelines specified by NIH. Many of these modules are quite
good. We may use these with our students if we wish.

University of
Montana.
Wide ranging program in ethics, including a MA in teaching applied
ethics.
