Burma Diving - Burma Banks
Scuba Diving Burma
Burma Banks rise to within 15m of the Andaman Sea surface, from the surrounding 350m deep waters. The Banks, Big Bank, Silvertip Bank, Rainbow Reef and Roe Bank, offer some very exciting open ocean diving, and shark encounters are virtually guaranteed. 2-3m Silvertip and Nurse Sharks are frequently seen, with occasional Grey Reef, Hammerhead and Tiger Shark sightings.
At Silvertip Bank you can look overboard through the crystal clear waters and often see Silvertips cruising along the bottom. When you're in the water you'll be mesmerised by these impressive creatures, as they cautiously circle you.
Burma Banks is quite virgin dive territory and can only be reached by Burma liveaboards. Coral life is very healthy in some areas, with gullies and overhangs that provide homes to some of the Sharks. Due to its exposed location, you can expect advanced drift diving in strong currents, whilst checking out the larger fish species such as Emporer, Snapper, Grouper and Sweetlips.
