Why Remote Access:

With the enhancement of the telecommunications infrastructure and an increase in the quality of communication links in general, it has become increasingly possible to offer users at remote sites access to computer resources, applications, and data. This remote access can have a significant benefit in supporting the continuity of operations under many disruption scenarios, including civil unrest, terrorist attack, biohazard, or security shutdown.

This Web page provides instructions on how the user can gain remote access to the Server Based Computing (SBC) environment at USAID/W.

System Requirements:

  • Any System that has Internet access
  • A connection rate of at least 33.6 Kbps (lower speeds will work but slow)

How do I receive Support:

There are two ways to receive support for Remote Access:

1.Call the Helpdesk -- (202) 712-1234

  • Your first point of contact should be the Helpdesk. They have been trained to handle most problems and/or questions. They have also been trained to determine if the problem belongs to the RAS Support group, the SBC Support group or another group. This will cut down on the time it takes to receive the correct support needed.

2.Send an e-mail to RAS.Support@USAID.GOV -- Internet e-mail address

  • Your second option is to contact RAS Support directly using e-mail. RAS Support will then look at your problem and/or question, then provide you with information or pass it onto the appropriate group. RAS Support provides (Electronic Support Only)
