The ICD-10 training kit

When ICD-10 was first published, training seminars were organized in different countries and on the occasion of international meetings, some under the auspices of the World Psychiatric Association. In 1996 we decided to create a comprehensive kit of recommendations, slide and supporting material for trainers. A first version of this kit, published under the auspices of the WPA and the WHO Division on Mental Health, was presented in the form of a diskette to participants in the Xth World Congress of Psychiatry, Madrid 1996.

A second revised version has been produced and translated into several languages and is available through the WPA Secretary of Education (Prof. Roger Montenegro). The kit consists of instructions for presentations and workshops in different formats, contents of the ICD-10 lectures, listings of materials useful for training, ranging from one hour lectures to one week seminars, 123 transparencies, case histories, lists of references to key books and articles, editorial guidelines for the production of case histories and videotapes and other materials including evaluation forms and certificates.
