The Energy Saving Trust has been pro-actively
providing a service in Wales since 1993. The Energy Efficiency
Advice Centres in Cardiff, Swansea and Newport (Pembrokeshire)
were the first practical outlets for the provision of free
energy efficiency advice in Wales. This service was not provided
in isolation but as a partnership of local authorities, utilities
and local organisations. This partnership is still in operation
providing help to all domestic households across Wales and
the UK.
The devolution of governments in Wales, Scotland and Northern
Ireland has opened up new opportunities for the EST to become
more interactive with the new administrations. The EST has
appointed programme managers to encourage the introduction
of energy saving programmes that are tailored to suit each
of the devolved countries.
