Energy saving

The Energy Saving Trust was set up by the UK Government after the 1992 Rio Earth Summit and is now one of the UK’s leading organisations addressing the damaging effects of climate change. Our goal is to achieve the sustainable, efficient use of energy and to cut carbon dioxide emissions, which is the key contributor to global warming. Energy saving is one way to address this urgent and extremely important issue, which affects us all.

Find out more about energy saving.

In the UK, one quarter of all carbon dioxide emissions comes from the energy we use to heat and light our homes, and power our household appliances. That is why identifying the energy wasters in your home can have a direct effect on our environment as well as saving you money. Energy saving products are now readily available on the market, as well as advice on how to become an energy saving household or company.

Energy saving lightbulbs are the product we most associate with energy saving in everyday life. However, with some forethought there are many other simple ways to save energy. Avoiding leaving your fridge door open for too long, ensure your washing machine is always full before a load is put on and only using your tumble dryer when absolutely necessary will all put you on the path to energy saving.
