GALAS AND SPECIAL PRESENTATIONS
In addition to the Festival Opening and Closing night Galas and the annual Awards Gala, this year’s schedule includes four Gala Screenings selected for their premiere status or to highlight a special section in the Festival line-up. Special guests will attend, and a reception will follow the screenings (available for a nominally higher price).
The World Cinema Now Gala – THE SNOW WALKER
The Foreign Oscar Buzz Gala – WARRIORS OF HEAVEN AND EARTH
The Gay-La – LATTER DAYS
The French Gala – LOVE ME IF YOU DARE

OSCAR® BUZZ
The Festival has expanded its coverage of films being considered for the ultimate in movie awards with this new section devoted to films which – officially or unofficially – are considered to be the films most likely to be among the five final nominees for Academy Awards® in their respective categories. As always, we’re presenting virtually all of the official submissions for the Best Foreign Language Film category at this year’s event. We’re adding a selection of the films which are assumed (according either to official ‘short lists’ of finalists or insider industry ‘buzz’) to be the frontrunners in three other categories which general audiences have little or no chance to see prior to the nominations, let alone the awards show itself: Best Documentary Feature, Best Animated Feature (focussing only on the foreign language candidates) and Best Documentary Short.

NEW VOICES/NEW VISIONS
This special showcase features the work of twelve debuting international filmmakers, which the Festival programmers have singled out to represent the most stylistically audacious and distinctive among the crop of some 40-plus new directors encompassed by the feature film line-up this year.

NON-FICTION FEATURES
This selection of contemporary documentary films, complementing the eleven feature documentaries presented in the OSCAR BUZZ section, provides fresh evidence that the non-fiction feature format has become an arena for some of the most inventive and engrossing movies on view in the current cinema.

CONTEMPORARY WORLD CINEMA
Traditionally the largest and most inclusive section of films in the Festival line-up, this selection of roughly 100 exceptional new narrative feature films from more than 60 countries around the world returns with a new name this year, with a special focus on Ibero-American Cinema (defined as the countries of Latin America as well as Spain and Portugal) and a strikingly large number of excellent new films from France.

TALKING PICTURES
A series of Master Classes and Panels will be presented during the festival.
