How does it work ? Installing a Web-Stat hit counter on your site takes no more than 5 minutes ; as soon as your account is in place it will initialize and start recording information about your visitors in real time (your traffic statistics are continuously updating as new visitors access your site).

Here is how it works : when you create a Web-Stat account, either a free trial or a full registered account, we give you a few lines of HTML code that you paste into your own site's HTML. That code will cause a hit counter image to display on your page (note that this image can be made invisible - one of the many options we offer - but technically it is still an image).

When a visitor accesses your site, his browser requests your page from your server and then goes on to load the hit counter image from the Web-Stat servers ; as soon as this happens we capture information on that visitor and record the data into your own personal log files stored on our machines. The whole process takes an average of 0.22 seconds, which makes Web-Stat one of the fastest loading hit counters available. You can then come to http://www.web-stat.com at any time, log into your password-protected account and check your traffic in real-time.
