Transport to the Old Town from the airport.

<< GO BACK TO WARSAW HOTELS, APARTMENTS

SEE A MAP BELOW >>

When you come directly out of the arrivals area there will be taxi drivers who ask you immediately if you want a taxi. They are probably best avoided. Take rather a taxi from one of the official stands. They are MPT TAXI, SAWA TAXI and MERC TAXI.

These companies, although not the cheapest will not cheat you. Basically always get a taxi with a logo or name on top as these taxis are registered to companies that are accountable for their drivers actions. The price from the airport to the old town (tariff 1 by day) is around 40 zl(10 USD). With unauthorized drivers the price may rise up to 120 PLN (40 USD).

Alternatively we can arrange everything for you.
You need to send a mail with estimated arrival time and flight number. Once we have this information it will be phoned through to "Merc Taxi" located just through the arrival gate in Warsaw's airport. The flat rate is 60 PLN in the daytime. MORE ABOUT OUR PICK-UP SERVICE

There is a bus stand outside right in front of the taxi stand. You should take the 175 bus it goes all the way to the old town. You can purchase a ticket from the driver (2.40zl) or inside the airport building (advisable if you do not speak Polish). If you have a large bag you should buy a ticket for that also as the ticket inspectors like this bus to collect fines and not having a ticket for a large bag gives them a good excuse to collect some cash. Your destination stop is Miodowa.

Transport to the Old Town from the train station.

The same rules are applicable here as above, just make sure you get a company with a logo on top, and agree the price in advance, best price is about 15 PLN, acceptable until 18 PLN (by day, by night). Always check if the driver's meter is switched on.
Unfortunately, it is not possible to arrange a usual pick-up service from the train station. Due to train delays your costs would be higher, then when you take a taxi.

If you cross the main road (Al. Jerozolimskie) by an underpass and go to the bus stand outside the Marriott hotel you can catch the 175 bus. The stop to get off is Ul. Miodowa.

Arriving in Warsaw by car.

From south/west (from Katowice, Wrocław or Kraków):

Always try to get to Aleje Jerozalimskie (a very long avenue) and drive eastwards. You can get to this street along Al. Krakowska (starts at suburb Janki) and then Grojecka. Driving along Aleje Jerozolimskie you pass the Palace of Culture on your left and at Rondo (roundabout) R. Dmowskiego (there is tall Novotel hotel on your right and the large department store GALERIA CENTRUM on your left). On this roundabout you turn left and go along Galeria Centrum and Empik (on your right) up to McDonalds (direction north). At the McDonald's turn right into Swietokrzyska, go through three successive streetlights and at the crossroads with Krakowskie Przedmieście/Nowy Swiat you turn left (it is behind the large ministery building on your left) into famous Krakowskie Przedmieście avenue. Continue up to the Bristol Hotel and the Zamkowy Square (with a huge red castle). You need to find a parking space somewhere in Podwale Street. Remember to buy a parking ticket for your car!. Our office is in on the main Square in the Old Town, next to Barssa Restaurant.

From West (from Łódź or Poznań):

This is easy as you go always straight: Warszawska Street turns into Gorczewska and finally merges with Aleja Solidarności. You cross Plac Bankowy and shortly afterwards turn right to Bielanska to get to the Theatre Square. At the square you turn left and from Senatorska Street and go straight on to Podwale Street.

From North and East: (from Gdansk, Mazury, Białystok or Lublin):

Like coming from west, you also have to get to Al. Solidarności, from Gdansk through Marymoncka and Alej Jana Pawła II. From Plac Bankowy the same instructions as before. If you have to cross the river (you are coming from the east) just drive until you reach Aleja Solidarności, cross the Vistula River, go through the tunnel under the Plac Zamkowy. Then immediately drive up to your right (Kapucynska) and in Miodowa (the main street) turn right and shortly after turn left into Senatorska and when you reach Zamkowy Square (with a red castle) turn left in Podwale Street.
