Compuware racing drives precision performance, technological innovation to the finish line
 Compuware Corporation is known for performance, technological innovation and speed, but customers can now see this horsepower and competitive spirit firsthand through the new Compuware Corvette Racing Team, competing in the American Le Mans Series.
Compuware is stepping up its involvement with General Motors and its Corvette Racing program to field two teams in the GTS class of the American Le Mans Series. The series, which in 2003 will feature nine events in the United States and Canada, combines high-performance, high-tech automobiles with endurance competition that requires reliability, durability and focus. The Compuware name and logo can be seen prominently on the race cars, driver and team uniforms, team equipment and facility signage.
“Partnering with GM and Corvette to create the Compuware Corvette Racing program is a great way to reach our best customers with the Compuware story,” said Pete Karmanos, Jr., founder and CEO of Compuware. “Racing is a lot like software application development. Most of the engineering, innovation and strategy happen behind the scenes. Just as we help companies optimize their business applications and ensure the quality of their IT programming, the Compuware race team does a great deal of research, testing and data analysis to ensure the cars achieve peak performance.
“Our goals are consistent, too,” added Karmanos. “It is all about being fast to the finish, whether that means building and analyzing software applications or getting to victory lane.”
Compuware Corvette Racing has already been to victory lane this season, with the No. 3 Compuware Corvette C5-R taking first place in the GTS class at the season-opening 12 Hours of Sebring, in Sebring, Fla. Drivers of the No. 3 Compuware Corvette – Ron Fellows, Johnny O’Connell and Franck Freon – celebrated the win and offered high hopes for repeating their GTS Driver Championship title from 2002.
“There’s nothing like driving a Chevrolet Corvette at Sebring!” said O’Connell after the Sebring win. “Everyone here on the No. 3 Compuware car did a great job. I tip my hat to Ron and Franck – we’ve enjoyed great success together and this is a great win.”
Compuware will use the racing program to support one of its major new product initiatives for 2003 – the introduction of Compuware Application Reliability Solution (CARS), a comprehensive application quality offering that combines technology, expertise and process to ensure the delivery of high-quality, reliable business-driving applications. CARS introduces and enforces quality assurance discipline across the organization, resulting in more efficient and effective quality assurance efforts. CARS provides management the knowledge needed to make informed deployment decisions.
 “Compuware Corvette Racing relies on smart data analysis, advanced engineering and leading-edge technology to prepare its winning race cars, the identical principles that Compuware’s CARS offers companies to test and fine tune their applications’ integrity and functionality throughout the development process,” said Karmanos. “Hosting customers at the races allows Compuware to showcase our new products in an informal setting, but in a way that amplifies the attributes of the Compuware brand. The company plans to extend the racing partnership to major industry events and other customer outreach efforts.”
