
Background
The Bridgeport Economic Development Corporation is a
nonprofit development corporation. BEDCO develops and manages programs and projects that
foster business development, community reinvestment and neighborhood revitalization. When
so designated by the City of Bridgeport, it can also exercise the power of eminent domain
on behalf of an economic development project.

Mission:
BEDCOs mission is to undertake
economic development projects - in partnership with business, government and
community-based organizations - to create jobs and expand the tax base for the betterment
of the city and the Bridgeport economic region. |
What
can BEDCO do? Provide Technical Assistance to Businesses
Assist businesses seeking loans from the $6 million
Grow Bridgeport Fund.
Provide competitively- priced business incubator
space at the Bridgeport Innovation Center.
Develop
Industrial - Business Sites and Facilities
- Assemble land for industrial and commercial
expansion.
- Clean land of industrial pollution.
- Develop facilities and sites for business use.
- Renovate and modernize existing facilities.
- Coordinate public and private development in a
cost-effective manner.
Support
Neighborhood Development Efforts
- Assist community and neighborhood organizations in
pursuing development plans.
