Our new homeowners tell their stories

If you doubt that home ownership is a possibility for you, read the stories of some of our families. They wanted a house. They worked toward their goal. And they did it! You can, too.

The stories that follow originally appeared in our Doorways newsletter. If you would like to receive our newsletter, send an email to programs@nhsphoenix.org and ask to be added to the newsletter list. (Be sure to include your complete mailing address.)

Wendy Drew

Wendy Drew is a teacher who does her homework. When she realized that paying rent wasn't helping her future, she found out how to buy a house. That was two years ago. This year, she's tapping into her hard-earned equity as she continues to make her house her home.

Sarah and her son

This year Sarah Griffith has a new home for herself and her son, new financial savvy, and a very proud family. And as part of her "bigger picture," she is busy using her new-found knowledge to lend a hand to others.

Tracy and Abby

Tracy Morris follows up to make the dream of homeownership a reality for herself, her children and for her 3-year-old adoptee from the Humane Society, Abby.

Lorna Barker

Lorna Barker is writing her own history. To date, it includes: the purchase of her very first home, getting her personal finances in order, and forging partnerships that will last a lifetime. And she's not done yet!

Clients from 2000-2002 have stories to tell, too!
