My Air Force buddy from the early 60's just called me from Soldotna. We had not communicated since 1967. What a great surprise and how wonderful it is to know friendships can last so long. We are now excited about visiting your town, Don (are you looking?)and Carolyn in the future. Your photo album has made us even more anxious. Thank you for sharing your beautiful piece of the U.S. with us.

I WAS BORN AND RAISED IN ALASKA BUT MOVED TO SOLDOTNA WHEN I WAS A TEEN.  I LOVE IT HERE AND DON'T EVER WANT TO LEAVE, IT HAS BEEN A GREAT PLACE TO RAISE MY FAMILY AND IT IS SO BEAUTIFUL HERE. THIS IS A GREAT WEB SITE, THANK YOU FOR THE OPPORTUNITY TO VOICE MY THOUGHTS.

After leaving Soldotna 2000 I was so glad to get out of there. I guess growing up there you think that it is just the one place that you want out of when you get old enough to go out on your own. I have lived all over the US in the last four years, and I have come to realize one thing. No matter what, Soldotna is home, and always will be home. I have been off the coast of Brazil and even with the beautiful horizon, I found myself thinking back on Soldotna. Now I am clear across the country and I find myself getting more and more homesick every day. I really like the site, it brings a little bit of home back to me :)

Lucy Hotchkiss and Family
Kasilof, Alaska

Our family discovered the Kenai Peninsula in 1983, the first year we moved to Alaska. In 1999 we moved to the Soldonta area and have a great life. We would like to say thanks to the Soldotna Chamber of Commerce and the great work they do promoting our side of the world. I have never gone outside Alaska in the summer! Life is too beautiful on the Inlet and Rivers to ever spend summer in any other state. Run Reds run. Lucy Hotchkiss and Family - Kasilof, Alaska

I lived in Soldotna when I was a child. It was one of the happiest places I ever lived. We lived there in the late 60's and early 70's. Does Lover's Lane still exist? My Mother Sandie named it for the happy home we had with my father Charlie Decker. He was once one of the greatest Alaskans to live. The house we lived in was at the top of the hill on Lover's Lane the Granges bought it from us. I hear the town is no longer small. We often reminisce.

We have many great memories of Soldotna. We were visiting The Solid Rock Bible Camp, where the Minnichs' turned their home into ours while we were there. That was in July/August 1998. But ever since that trip we long to return. Soldotna has taken our hearts and we're hoping to return soon. Hopefully when the salmon are running. Everyone there made us fell at home it will be great to return to Soldotna.

Hello from Frankfurt Germany. I am a previous resident of Nikiski/Kenai. I graduated in 1979 from KCHS. (Myers) was my maiden name. I have been home off and on since then, lived in Anchorage, Fairbanks. My husband is in the Air Force and we have been in Germany now for 7 years. We found this website when my nine year old daughter chose Alaska as a project for her 4th grade class. This is a year long project where they study and gather information all about their state of choice. Needless to say pictures of Alaska was not a problem. These web sites that we have accessed have been awesome with information. Thanks!!

I'm Studying my home town (Soldotna) for my urban studies class. I have gathered a lot of information, but am still in needs of a few facts: 1) list of factors critical in shaping Soldotna's development 2) Soldotna's population by decade from the date of its origin 3) any significant events in Soldotna's history. If you could provide me with any of this information I would greatly appreciate it. You can contact me by email, phone or U.S mail. Thank you very much. Crystal Rose (203) 436-0967 P.O.
