Mundon or White House Farm Canal

Description: Was a 1¼ mile private canal from Southey Creek on the Blackwater to White House Farm, Mundon, Essex.

History: Built in 1832, disused by 1880.

Nottingham Canal

Description: Originally a 14¾ mile broad canal from Langley Mill, on the Erewash Canal, to Nottingham, on the Trent Navigation. Abandoned and mostly un-navigable.

History: Promoted under an Act of 1792, opened in 1796, abandoned in 1937 except for the section from the Trent to Beeston Cut which is now part of the River Trent Navigation.

Nutbrook Canal

Description: Was a 4½ mile, 13 lock, broad canal from Shipley Wharf, near Ilkeston, Derbyshire, to White House, Staunton, where in joined the Erewash Canal.

History: Authorised by an Act of 1793, opened about 1796. No traffic after 1949 and much of the canal filled in now.

Newdigate Canals

Description: A 5½ mile system of six connected private canals with 13 locks at Arbury, Warwickshire, these were connected to the Coventry canal.

History: Mostly built between 1770 and 1795 and most traffic had ceased by 1819.

Description: Was a 1 mile 7 furlong canal with 3 locks from a tramroad at Pontsmill to Par harbour, in St Austell Bay, Cornwall.

History: Opened in 1847 for the carriage of tin, lead ore and china clay transhipped in containers onto boats from a tramway. Closed in 1873.
