| Ranong is an
important trading center for Thai and Burmese
merchants. Lying on the west coast of
Thailand, Ranong has enjoyed its wealth from
the seaborne and bordering trades. The
discovery of the abounding tin in the province
by the Chinese emigrants by the late 18th
century also enhanced its affluence. Ranong is
a relatively ordinary town, though it provides
convenience for tourists such as shopping
points and launching points to its nearby
National Parks, waterfalls, and hot springs. |
