The Experience
Hello and welcome from Jacky and John McLean. Our farmstay, Coleraine, is the perfect place to experience the great New Zealand country lifestyle, not to mention some of the best trout fishing in the world!
Come and stay with us and enjoy the opportunity to experience firsthand the workings of a New Zealand farm, whatever the season. All of our guests enjoy the special experience of   'a day in the life of a New Zealand farm'   with a free tour of our 950 acre farming property, home to over 1,500 deer, 200 Friesian Heifers and 50 Sheep.
There's also the opportunity to independently explore the farm on foot - taking a stroll along a three kilometre fenced lane to view the wetland duckpond, the natural waters of the Waimea Stream and Coleraine's native tussock block.
Southland's rivers are internationally renowned as some of the world's best brown trout fisheries and John can transport you to local fishing spots, including the world famous Mataura River - 'the jewel of the south' only a 10 minute drive away. Alternatively we invite guests to fish for rainbow trout in our spectacular mountain streams.

Accommodation
Coleraine Cottage Farm Stay itself is the perfect opportunity to enjoy country tranquility in a sunny and private garden.
Our large three-bedroomed guest cottage is warm, fully-furnished and self-contained allowing guests to relax in true comfort and style. It has a well-equipped kitchen and dining area, a separate lounge, television and video recorder, a bathroom with a full-size bath/shower and vanity, and a separate laundry and toilet. The cottage has electric heating and with a spacious environmenmt makes the perfect place for that long term stay.
Bedroom accommodation consists of a queen, twin and single bedroom. Linen and electric blankets are supplied.
Coleraine Cottage is a smoke-free and child-safe environment. Children's toys and videos are available and there is a sandpit play area.
Our farm tour and a continental breakfast are included in the tariff. Guests are also welcome to join us in a country-style dinner.

Your Hosts
We warmly welcome you to our farmstay and look forward to sharing our family hospitality and rural lifestyle with you.
Jacky's interests include early childhood education, cuisine, tourism, tennis, netball, gardening and horse riding. John's interests include computing, cuisine, fly fishing and fly-tying, sports and he's also a member of Lions International.
We have three gorgeous blond-haired children - two girls, Jordan and Ashleigh and son, Rory.

Children welcome. Tariff 0 - 12 years $20.00 per child per night.



Location
Coleraine Farmstay is conveniently situated in the heart of Southland, and the tourist attractions of Fiordland and Central Otago are easily accessible. Lumsden, a rural service centre, is 7km from Coleraine. Its services include a supermarket, pharmacy, doctor, bakery, petrol station, postal agency, cafe/wine bar, a Dairy/takeaways and hotels. There's also an adventure playground, squash and tennis courts, a nine-hole golf course and an indoor swimming pool open from October until April.

Our cottage is very suitable for long stay Fishing Holidays. The rates quoted below are for up to one week inclusive.

If you wish to stay longer than one week, make your one week's booking. We will then be happy to negotiate a special rate for any further longer stay with us.
