Roger Federer and Justine Henin-Hardenne showed just why they are the world's top male and female players after claiming their
first Pacific Life Open titles in Indian Wells. Federer captured his second ATP Masters Series shield and extended his INDESIT
ATP 2004 Race lead with a comprehensive 6-3, 6-3 victory over Britain's Tim Henman, while Henin-Hardenne defeated two-time
champion Lindsay Davenport 6-1, 6-4.
It was just Federer's second victory over 2002 Indian Wells finalist Henman in eight career meetings as the Swiss captured
his third title of the year, while Henin-Hardenne - who like Federer won the Australian Open in January - captured her fourth
title of the year and her fifth consecutive Tier I crown. Both Federer and Henin-Hardenne have a 22-1 record in 2004.
