Mini guide to Dubai Airport
Dubai International Airport, located 5 km south-east of Dubai, is among the Middle East's premier airports. In 2002, a total of 16 million passengers passed through the airport, making Dubai one of the fastest growing airports in the world.
There are 2 terminals including a new concourse that opened in early 2000. The new concourse is connected to Terminal 1 (Sheikh Rashid Terminal) by a tunnel with travelators. Terminal 2 operates business and charter flights exclusively.
Banking services and ATMs are available in both terminals, with a number of automated bureaux de change facilities.There is also a post office.
You will find restaurants, cafés and a bars located in the departures lounge. A food court is also available, and may be found on the departures level between gates 13 and 15. The principle restaurant, offering international cuisine, is found between gates 19 and 17.
Excellent duty-free shopping is provided at the airport. Further facilities include a 24-hour medical centre, several first aid posts, an attended children's play area, quiet lounges and a health club with swimming pool, spa and a fully equipped gym.
The business traveller will find two business centres on the Terminal 1 concourse. The business centre on the Departures level is accessible to all passengers and facilities include an Internet café, ISDN booths and a 24-hour secretarial service.
Desks dedicated to passengers with special needs are available between rows A and B in the Departures hall. Carts are provided to transport passengers to the new concourse, where disabled passengers may access special lounges.
A 24-hour Airport Welcome Bureau desk is located in Terminal 1 arrivals and screens show flight information in various languages. On the departures level of the concourse you will find two more information booths, opposite the Food Court and opposite gate 19.
