Outriggers

Outriggers

Outriggers are a pair of aluminum or fiberglass poles fitted on each side
of the boat at approximately a 70 - 80 degree angle.
These poles have one or two release clips or tag lines attached to a leader
running along the pole like a halyard on a flagstaff.
The main purpose of the outriggers is to spread out the lines, so more lines
can be trolled without tangling.
Outriggers also make it possible to keep the leader out of the water to prevent bubbles,
so the bait can be trolled more naturally.
