If you dream of spectacular battles
with Sailfish,
the fastest fish in the sea, Phuket should
definitely be on your list of places to visit.
Sailfish
are present all year round, and the name
Sailfish
Capital of Asia refers to the huge numbers
around Racha
Yai, in the rainy season (June - July - August),
and High season (November - March) around Racha
Yai,
Racha
Noi, Ko
Rok, Ko Adang and the Similan
islands.
In High season, visiting
anglers can furthermore
encounter The Ultimate Fighter, the Black
Marlin.
The normal size in Phuket waters is 200 - 300 lbs,
but every year specimens around 500 lbs are caught.
The local record is 508 lbs landed on
MV Andaman Hooker in the year
2000.
Other species in Phuket waters include: Wahoo,
King Mackerel, Barracuda, Giant Trevally, Cobia,
Blue Finned Trevally, Dorado, Rainbow Runner,
Queenfish, Tuna and several species of Sharks.
It should be said, that any Share
Charter fishing trip
is an introduction to Big Game Fishing, where the target is
a lot of fish, and the day is therefore, often spent trolling baits.
An exclusive charter is like a tailor-made
trip, where
you can decide what to target and with what technique.
All boats are open for suggestions and you are welcome
to bring your own equipment and lures.
If saltwater fly fishing has your interest,
please note that it is available only on request and
you must bring your own fly fishing equipment and flies.
Destinations like Ko
Rok, Similan
Islands and
the Andaman
Islands are long-range trips, and are
therefore only available on multi-day charters.
This gives you the advantage of spending
more time on
the fishing grounds, plus a chance for night
bottom fishing or shark fishing, absolutely free of charge.
It is also possible to stop fishing during the day,
if you wish to swim /snorkel or dive* on some
of the world's most beautiful reefs.
Thai Fishing Guide,
as a member of
The Billfish Foundation, strongly encourages
the practice of Catch and Release
of Marlin, Sailfish and Sharks.
*If you wish
to dive, you must have a valid diving certificate
(P.A.D.I. open water).
Note: Should you have any special requests
(dietary,
special equipment, etc.) kindly e-mail us prior to your charter.
We will do our best to grant your requests.
