The
most popular area for skiing in Poland is the southern region of the country.
The most popular ski resort is Zakopane, which is situated in a close distance
to Krakow. The best snow conditions are between January and late April. Among
offered slopes you should visit:
- Kasprowy Wierch (1 985 m). To reach the top you have to use the cable car,
that was built in 1936 and is divided into two parts. It takes about twenty
minutes to go up and offers you a beautiful journey with magnificent view
over the whole area. On the top you can choose between two long slopes, each
one with its own chairlift. If you choose Hala G±siennicowa, you will discover
a mild terrain, usually very sunny and calm. Hala Goryczkowa is an area for
more advanced skiers. It begins with a very steep slope, later becomes more
mild, but still is very demanding.
- Nosal. It is probably the best place for more advanced skiers, and also
the most sure one - it's equipped with a snow-making facilities, so you don't
have to worry about the snow conditions. You will find one chairlift and
few T-bars there. It is a FIS (International Ski Federation) certified slope,
to hold Slalom and Giant Slalom. Nosal is one of the most crowded places,
especially during weekends. It is a good idea to start skiing on Nosal in
the early morning hours.
- Gubałówka. It is a much more gentler slope that can be reached by funicular.
It is south-facing, so it offers skiers sunny weather and a nice sun tan.
- Among other places to ski in Zakopane there are: Butorowy Wierch, Bukowina
Tatrzańska, Białka.
But skiing in Poland it's not just Zakopane. A very good ski resort can be
found in Krynica - a famous Polish health resort. Here you can choose from
a wide range of slopes:
- Jaworzyna Krynicka. You can reach the top with a new cable car - the longest
and the most modern in Poland. You can choose one of the four slopes, the
longest one of 2,5 km.
- Słotwiny. A really well developed ski complex, offers 8 tracks to choose
from, artificial snow, lighting in the evening, and many bars to relax after
skiing.
Another possibility for skiers is Szczyrk. The national team trains here,
but it also a great place for snowboarders. Szczyrk offers you all kinds
of skiing possibilities - you can choose from 26 lifts and lines.
In Szklarska
Poręba you have a variety of 15 lifts. Karpacz is the place for those who
