LEENERS
OPENS NEW STORE
Make-it-yourself shop quintuples
space to accommodate increasing demand for You-Make-Kit product line. |
|
| NORTHFIELD,
OHIO (MARCH 9, 2004) – Leeners, (www.Leeners.com) a retail operation devoted
to the “make-it-yourself” market, has opened a new store at 9293 Olde Eight
Road in Northfield, just south of Route 82. |
| The
retailer of homecraft kits and supplies has moved into a newly built storefront
that offers more than five times the space it previously occupied, according
to Leeners’ co-owners, Jim and Eileen Leverentz. The space will be
outfitted for walk-in traffic interested in homemade kits and accessories
that produce beer, wine, cheese, sausage, hot sauce, mustard, root beer,
candy, ice cream and a vast assortment of other home staples. |
| The
new Leeners location features 3,700 square feet of retail and demonstration
space that includes a self-contained kitchen studio designed for in-store
demonstrations which, ultimately, will allow a growing worldwide audience
access to live streaming video captured by a set of web cams installed
throughout the store. The centerpiece of the store houses a stylish
wine-lovers gift shop that offers a variety of winemaking kits and fine
wine accessories. |
| “Leeners
has experienced remarkable growth over the past six months which has enabled
us to open this new store,” said Jim Leverentz. “We’re witnessing
a increasing demand for make-it-yourself products, particularly from upper
incomers who are looking for interesting, at-home hobbies.” |
| The
business’ growth has been due, in part, to the recognition it received
last November from the Wall Street Journal, which dubbed the Leeners Deluxe
Cheese Kit as the best of its kind in the country. The ensuing rush
for cheese kits from WSJ readers all but buried the seven-year-old, four-employee
operation during the holiday buying season, forcing Leverentz to temporarily
remove the item from the company’s website. And while Leeners survived
a tremendously successful year-end, the demand for its product line remains
strong. |
| “We’re
rolling out a new store, a new logo and look, and new packaging that showcases
our You-Make-Kit brand product line,” commented Eileen Leverentz.
“2004 is shaping up to be a very exciting year for us and for the growing
market we’re serving.” |
