WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENTIn the News
Workforce Development is a top priority for the Chamber of Commerce, business, and the community. As Charlotte continues to grow and expand it is important to provide the education and opportunities that people need to succeed in a competive job market. The Chamber also partners with the Department of Social Services to promote the Charlotte-Mecklenburg's Work First program, recently praised by President George W. Bush during a visit to the Queen City in February 2002. This page is updated regularly with news concerning development of the workforce in Charlotte and the United States as a whole. June 2002: PRESIDENT SAYS STRONG WORK REQUIREMENT NEEDED IN WELFARE REFORM In a trip to Little Rock, Arkansas, President Bush called on the Senate to pass a welfare reform package with a strong work requirement which would ensure that more Americans are able to achieve independence.
