| Welcome to Sanur Beach
The main attraction of Sanur beach is the beaches with their very
white sand and the beauty
of constantly calm water. Sanur area has all level of accommodation
and solid network of infrastructure. Sanur is also the place where
the few remaining of Brahman Kuasa villages found. Some of the charming
ritual procession such as Bali’s only all-female keris dance
is held in this area. The Prasasti Blanjong, an emblazoned pillar
here dated AD 913, is Bali’s earliest behind the times relic
and is now kept in a temple in Blanjong village, southern part of
Sanur.
Sanur was for centuries an important trading place. Nearby Serangan
island has a Moslem community of Bugis fishermen, descendants from
the famous seafaring traders of old. But it is best known for the
inland Brahmin communities of
Taman and Anggarkasih, inside elaborately gated compounds, who are
believed to use magic. These people were also staunchly independent,
and when the Dutch landed in 1906 on their way to
Denpasar, they allowed the troops to pass by peacefully, having
a grudge against their own ruler, thus avoiding the puputan tragedy.
Today Sanur transformed into one of Bali's
best holiday destination, with its numerous range of hotels and
accomodation to choose. Sanur maintains the feeling of traditionality
and tranquility that it visitors would surely enjoy. Sanur beach-waves
are always gentle and perfect for relaxation. |
