SAFEASSURED COMMEMORATES NATIONAL MISSING CHILDREN'S
DAY
Sponsors the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children's
Annual Hope Awards
MOSINEE, WI - May 25, 2004 - In light of May 25th, which honors
National Missing Children's Day, Wausau Financial Systems applauds the
National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) in their
ongoing efforts to find missing children and prevent child sexual exploitation.
May 25th was first proclaimed National Missing Children's Day by President
Ronald Reagan and honored by every administration since.
In strong support of NCMEC and child safety, SafeAssured by Wausau
Financial Systems announces its sponsorship of the National Center for
Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and the 2004 Hope Awards and
Congressional Breakfast.
NCMEC, co-founded by John and Revé Walsh, provides services nationwide
for families and professionals in the prevention of abducted and sexually
exploited children. NCMEC also assists law enforcement in the prosecution
of the criminals who perpetrate these terrible crimes.
"In honor of National Missing Children's Day, Wausau Financial Systems
reminds families of the importance of having up-to-date photos of their
children," comments Bob Weirauch, Chairman and CEO with Wausau Financial
Systems, parent company of SafeAssured. "Our vision is that every
child in America has a SafeAssured Child ID, and no parent ever has to
use it."
The SafeAssured Child ID solution is designed as electronic input for
possible deployment into local and state AMBER Alert programs. This approach
to child identification provides families with the power to deliver media
and law enforcement immediate identifying data that is ready to broadcast.
In addition to a digital photo and personal profile, SafeAssured's captured
elements include: digital fingerprints, voice sample, and streaming video
showing movement and gait. The child's information is stored on a Mini-CD
ROM that is secured with a locked electronic code to safeguard privacy.
"All those who fight for the cause of missing and exploited children
are truly fortunate to have the tremendous support of many individuals
and corporations from around the world," said Ernie Allen, President
and CEO of NCMEC and the International Centre. "Our Hope Awards recognize
the exceptional initiatives undertaken by compassionate people and corporations
that make preventing child victimization a top priority."
The support the Hope Awards have received from individuals and private
corporations highlights the resounding commitment from businesses to combat
global child victimization.
"NCMEC urges parents or guardians to maintain easily accessible
good-quality photographs of their children. SafeAssured by Wausau Financial
Systems helps them accomplish this," added Allen.
