Dive Sites of Sumbawa
Sumbawa Island lies between Lombok to the west and Komodo Island to the east, and is therefore dived as part of the Komodo liveaboards cruises that run to and from Bali.
The rugged, sprawling land mass of Sumbawa, with it's many jutting and twisted peninsulas, forms plenty of protected bays for its islands dotted along the north coast, such as Moyo, Sangeang and Satonda. These sheltered and varied havens offer crystal-clear waters, deep and vibrant walls, and fertile, volcanic breeding grounds for some fantastic muck diving opportunities.
Often overlooked as just a port of call onto better dive sites to the east, Sumbawa's countless, vast schools of triggerfishes and butterflyfishes, macro sightings of blue-ringed octopus, clown frogfish and nudibranchs, numerous reef sharks and tunas in the deep walled sections, topside attractions of volcanos and bat colonies - are reasons enough for you to plunge deep and explore this underwater tapestry too.
Diving Season
You can dive in Sumbawa all year round. Overall, the best diving conditions are from April to December.
