FORSTER THREE-PEATS AT SENIOR MEN’S AMATEUR
Ken Forster of Illahe Hills Country Club in Salem, Oregon shot
an even-par 72 for a three-day total of one-over-par 217 to
capture the 40th PNGA Senior Men’s Amateur
Championship by one stroke. The victory Thursday marks Forster's
third consecutive in this championship. He got off to a hot
start in the final round at Semiahmoo G&CC, shooting a three-under-par
33 on the opening nine holes to give himself a comfortable four-stroke
lead heading to the back nine. Runner-up Al Reinikka, who carded
a two-under-par 70 in the final round, closed the gap to one
stroke on the back nine to force Forster to hang on for the win.
In the Open Championship, Bill Meyer of Glendale Country Club in Bellevue,
Washington carded a one-under-par 71 during the final round at Loomis
Trail GC to give him a three-day total of five-over-par 221 and a two-stroke
