ALL net.au domain names registered pre-1998 are DUE TO EXPIRE ON 30 JUNE 2004.
It is YOUR responsibility to transfer your domain name and renew it before the expiry date.
Information about pre-1998 net.au domain names:
Prior
to 1 July 2002, your net.au name did not have an official expiry date. From
1 July 2002, all net.au domain names are subject to a 2 year licence period
and so will need to be renewed every 2 years. Your net.au name is deemed to
have been issued on 1 July 2002 and will expire on 30 June 2004. If you wish
to continue to use the domain name it will have to be renewed before 30 June
2004 for another 2 year period.
Prior to 1 July 2002, the registrar of net.au domain names was Connect Pty Ltd. Connect is not an auDA accredited registrar under the new system. You will need to choose a new registrar in order to renew your domain name.
Step 1: Get your Domain Name Password (formerly called Registry Key)
To renew your domain name you will need to know your Domain Name Password. As
a security measure, all .au domain names are password protected. You can
have your Domain Name Password emailed to you by going to the Recover
Password tool at
http://admin.auda.org.au/and following the instructions.
Step 2: Select an auDA Accredited Registrar
Registrars are
accredited by auDA and their job is to manage the domain name by renewing it
for you. You must select a registrar from the list of registrars at
http://www.auda.org.au/registrars/accredited-registrars/. Service
offerings and renewal fees vary between registrars, so you should shop
around according to your needs.
Step 3: Renew your Domain
Name
Contact the registrar that you have selected to renew
your domain name. You will need to give them your Domain Name Password and
pay the renewal fee. In most cases you will be able to renew your domain
name online. The registrar will be able to assist you with any queries you
may have.
