Ray on the Water
Ray on the Water is a new play by Edward Allen Baker, described as "a slice of American gothic meets Reality TV." It is set in a small New England town where the secrets are as mysterious as the fog that has debilitated it. A young, unscrupulous producer, trapped and desperate to come up with the new story idea that will get her to the top, lucks out when she stumbles upon the four workers who run the local newspaper distribution company and decides to turn their lives into television. As she and her two-man crew manipulate each of them individually, she realizes the real prize is the tough-as-nails matriarch of the business who seemingly has the juiciest story of them all. What ensues is a cat-and-mouse game between small-town morals and big-city celebrity culture that threatens to rip the group apart.
