Sunny
weather, certain snow conditions, reasonable prices and perfect
local cuisine are the main characteristics of winter holiday in
the Sunny Valley (Val di Sole). Choose between old village of
Folgarida and artificial Marilleva 900 and Marilleva 1400. The
last two were founded to serve as ski resorts only. The numbers
in the names show the altitude of the spot. The three villages
create a ski circus with 50 km of downhill trails and over 60
km of routes for cross-country runners. Rapid development of winter
tourism in both Marillevas led to destruction of most of the trees
in the nearby. Therefore, slopes of Val di Sole are wide and always
full of sunlight.
The locality of Peja is famous rather for its spas than skiing
possibilities. However, a small area offering 20 km of trails
can be accessed directly from the village. Regular ski-bus service
connects Pejo to Marilleva 900 and Folgarida. Tourists staying
here can also access the skiing area of Passo Tonale.
Tonale is another artificial tourism spot, without traditional
architecture it may seen not interesting, but it definitely has
something to offer. Skiing circus at the altitude of 1800 - 3000
meters guarantees good snow conditions during the long season.
What is more, the Presena glacier offers skiing trails also in
summer - visitors are welcome from early May till end of September.
On balace, Val di Sole is a good offer for those, who prefer intermediate
slopes and perfect weather at reasonable price. The localities
of Folgarida and the Marillevas seem to be the best place to stay.
