Identification:
Light brown body covered with brown to black markings.
Darker brown to black spots on the head and tail.
Spines on first half of the dorsal and anal fins.
Temperature range:
18 - 30 Celsius (65 - 86 Fahrenheit).
Typical location:
Around semi-protected seaward reefs and shallow lagoons.
Fishing methods:
Bottom fishing with crab, snail, mussel or dead fish.
Fighting characteristics:
A stubborn fish that will make hard work of getting it to the surface.
