Business Requirements
    for saltwater and freshwater operations

A sport fish charter business must register annually with the Alaska Department of Fish & Game. Registration forms are available online or can be picked up at your nearest Alaska Fish & Game office. A department representative will sign and date the form and the owner/agent can carry the pink copy of form until the wallet-sized card is received in the mail. Note, the 3-part form is not valid until the form is signed by a department representative. The business owner/agent must make a photocopy of the business card issued by ADF&G; and provide a copy to each guide to carry on their person while guiding.

Renewal forms are mailed the first part of January to those businesses registered in the previous year. If you have not received your renewal form by Febuary contact the Anchorage ADF&G; office at (907) 267-2369.

• Hold a valid Alaska Business License for the guiding business. A business license for an unrelated business is not adequate. A business license is available from the Division of Occupation Licensing.
  
• Sport Fish saltwater charter operators must have a logbook (See Logbook requirements).
• Must ensure their saltwater vessel operators accurately and completely maintain the Saltwater Charter Vessel Logbooks.
  
• Provide all registered guides with a copy of the business registration.
• Non-profit organizations need to register as a sport fishing business if they are charging clients.
