Ambassador Bill Richardson To Travel to Bahrain, Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and Sri
Lanka, April 11-19, 1998

U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Bill Richardson plans to travel to several capitals in the Middle East and South Asia to consult with senior government officials and international leaders regarding bilateral and regional issues, various United Nations and peacekeeping issues and will discuss human rights and humanitarian issues. Ambassador Richardson will also review preparations for the upcoming visit of President Clinton to the region. He would be accompanied by Assistant Secretary of State for South Asian Affairs Karl F. Inderfurth and National Security Council Senior Director for Near East and South Asian Affairs Bruce Riedel.
The dates and itinerary of the trip are as follows, subject to change:
