The NGfL guide to citizenship |
 |
 |
'Citizenship' is a relatively new term in the school curriculum and refers to the process of helping young people to relate to, understand and contribute to the communities they are part of. Its aim is to educate pupils to enable them to play an effective role in all levels of society, whilst encouraging them to become well-balanced individuals with an awareness of their duties and rights. Citizenship covers a diverse range of issues, including respect for others, community action, government, crime and the global community, but fortunately there are a number of websites that can help teachers and pupils who are trying to get to grips with this broad subject. |
