What's New

New Outdoor Gear for 2001:

FOOTWEAR (Socks)

Foot comfort is largely related to wearing good, quality socks. When you have moisture around your foot from either sweat or trekking through water, your feet can easily get blistered or chaffed. Good socks keep feet comfortable and can help prevent foot problems.

Fox River. Fox River has been making socks for over 100 years and specializes in socks for outdoor use. Fox River VP Jeffrey Lessard said that Fox River was the first to introduce Teflon in socks. What Teflon does is provides a blister guard since your sock moves against the boot but stays steady against your foot. Lessard said that Fox River believes in keeping your foot dry (whenever possible), keeping your foot in place, and helping you reduce foot health problems. They offer a wide range of socks for a variety of outdoor uses. Their newest most technical sock introduced at the show is the VVS or Variable Volume System with a left and right sock. The heavier volume fills in space in the shoe and the sock conforms to the foot.

Columbia Sportswear. For Spring 2001 Columbia Sportswear is launching 22 new sock styles divided between six different technical lines GRT (Gear for Rugged Trekking, Travel, and Training), Hunting and Fishing, Core, Titanium Outdoor Casuals and Multipacks. They have incorporated their exclusive Omni-Dry System, that wicks away moisture from the skin and Blister Guard Teflon, which is their newest addition that keeps the foot more comfortable by eliminating blistering and other friction-caused foot ailments. And for those, whose feet may become a little smelly, Columbia has added x-static technology to help control odor. (Now, your camping partners may even let you share the tent again.)
