Business Analyst
Based in Mountain View, CA.

universally accessible and useful. We are looking for a seasoned, savvy
and energetic professional for a Business Analyst role in the Business
Operations group.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated top quartile performance in
a consulting, investment banking or management trainee role, and have
graduated at or near the top of their class from a leading undergraduate
academic institution. We are looking for self-starters who can work in
a rapidly changing industry, tolerate ambiguity and demonstrate problem-solving
leadership with limited oversight.
Responsibilities:
- Play a pivotal role in all aspects of company-wide strategic and
operational improvement initiatives – identifying issues, forming hypotheses,
synthesizing conclusions into recommendations and helping implement
change.
- Perform analyses that underpin findings and recommendations on critical
initiatives.
- Help communicate findings and recommendations to business group
leadership.
- Manage discrete pieces of the problem at hand.
- Provide the business analytic "horsepower" to help drive initiatives
that are critical to the ongoing growth of the company.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree, or equivalent, from a leading institution; degree in
computer science, engineering or other technical field required.
- 2 to 3 years experience at the analyst level in management consulting,
investment banking or in a management trainee/rotation program.
- Demonstrated top quartile performance in prior roles, with increasing
levels of responsibility and independence.
- Distinctive problem solving and analytic skills, combined with impeccable
business judgment.
- Experience in the software, internet or media industries helpful,
but not required.
- Superior Microsoft Excel financial modeling skills; proficient PowerPoint
skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.
- Highly organized, time-management and attention to detail a must.

Decision Support Research
Analyst
Based in Mountain View, CA.
The market space in which Google operates changes very rapidly and has
many complex dynamics that are inter-related. In this environment traditional
business modeling and analytical frameworks are helpful but they can
no longer fully describe the way our business works. Decision Support
seeks to inform Google's critical decision-making in strategy, marketing,
partnerships, operations, and organization through rigorous quantitative
and qualitative analysis. Decision Support is a multi-disciplinary team
with first and foremost superlative analytical skills combined with business
understanding and impactful communications.
Responsibilities:
- Business research using statistical and other analytical methods.
- Quantitative (structural) modeling of business dynamics.
- Developing business-relevant conclusions from analysis and effectively
communicating them.
- Working with other Google groups (e.g. finance, business development,
sales) to address specific business decisions.
- Contributing and maintaining the body of knowledge developed the
group.
Requirements:
- Experience and coursework in statistical data analysis (i.e. linear
models, multivariate analysis, stochastic models, sampling methods).
- Business interest; business experience a plus.
- Strong written and oral communications.
- Team and interpersonal skills.
- BA/BS or Masters degree from a field with quantitative and/or statistical
emphasis. Statistics degree preferred.
- 1-2 years of work experience in a analytical context a plus.
- Experience with user/customer survey design a plus.
- Database query experience (e.g. SQL) a plus.
- Web design ability a plus.

Decision Support Research
Associate

Google’s critical decision-making in strategy, marketing, partnerships,

analysis. Decision Support is a multi-disciplinary team with first and
foremost superlative analytical skills combined with business understanding and
impactful communications.
Responsibilities:
- Research on Google’s business model using statistical and other
analytical methods.
- Working with senior business leaders to address critical business
decisions.
- Quantitative and qualitative modeling of business dynamics.
- Developing business-relevant conclusions from analysis and effectively
communicating them.
- Contributing to the body of knowledge by proactively identifying areas
for further investigation as well as innovating the methods with which to
analyze/understand them.
- This role will support ongoing contribution and participation in
academic forums.
Requirements:
- PhD in Statistics or MS with significant experience in statistical
modeling.
- Deep expertise and experience with statistical data analysis (i.e.
linear models, multivariate analysis, stochastic models, sampling methods) in
both academic coursework and project/work experience.
- Strong track-record of developing intellectual capital (e.g.
publications).
- Strong written and oral communications.
- Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Business experience in strategy, marketing, and/or finance a plus.
- Experience with user/customer survey design a plus.
- Database query experience (e.g. SQL) a plus.
