Liverpool's heart is the Mersey River, and so the city is strung out along the river. The Airport is just on 7 miles (11kms) up river at Speke, and that makes some careful planning necessary if you mean to overnight in Liverpool, before flying out from the newly rebuilt and renamed "Liverpool John Lennon Airport".

| Ambulift | Liverpool Airport has its own Ambulift to automatically lift passengers and wheelchairs up to the aircraft door at sill height, for smooth and efficient boarding / disembarking with a minimum of passenger inconvenience. |
